This course covers essential skills such as equipment preparation and selection, problem solving, tender operations, call response, search patterns, scene evaluation, environmental risk management, and evidence handling. Divers will also refine underwater techniques including line signals, communications, executing multiple search patterns, victim recovery, emergency procedures, and proper decontamination. In addition, students will learn how to build on their ERD I foundation and smoothly transition into ERD Ops Components courses for continued professional development.

About
The ERD II course prepares divers with advanced training in crime scene identification, evidence recovery, and encapsulation, while addressing the mechanics of drowning and physiological changes to human remains. Students will develop proficiency in dry suit and full face mask diving, decontamination procedures, and safe lifting techniques using lift bags while maintaining evidence integrity. They will also gain hands-on experience handling body recovery scenarios and learn to manage the hazards and benefits of different lifting methods, spending extensive time in full protective equipment throughout training.
